WARNING: This Article May Contain Spoilers

I just wanted to make you all aware that there will be no honorary mentions at the end of this article. These films mentioned here are the only films Chris Hemsworth made before taking on the role of Thor, so you can basically say that the MCU is where he made his name.

Star Trek

OK, so some of you may think that using this film is a waste of time as Hemsworth is only in the film for 8 minutes, and he’s not even on-screen for a lot of it, but then again we wouldn’t have an article if I didn’t. Now, because it’s such a short scene in the grand scheme of things, there obviously isn’t too much I can say about Chris’ role in this film outside of the fact that he plays the father to Chris Pine’s James Tyberius Kirk who I had always remembered as being captain from the very first moment but that might be because of the actor and big name he has become only a few short years later. However, he is still intrinsic to the plot because if it is not for George Kirk’s sacrifice – James and his mother would possibly have not made it out alive meaning you would have no film.

A Perfect Getaway

From the first moment we meet Hemsworth character, I wrote himself as simply being an ancillary character, especially as he had not made his name by this point and the fact that we see very little of his face. He only has a few scenes and throughout I think we are being led to believe that his character of Kale and his partner Cleo are the killers we keep hearing about when in actual fact, the outcome is much, MUCH darker! The film leads us down the garden path twice, first believing it is Kale and Cleo and then falling into the trap that it might be Nick and Gina who Cliff and Sydney, our lead characters, have been hiking with. Unfortunately, Hemsworth’s character of Kale becomes an unwitting pawn in Cliff and Sydney’s game.

Ca$h

You ever want to talk about wrong place, wrong time – well that was the case for Hemsworth’s character of Sam even though he probably wasn’t thinking that when he opened the case that fell on his car. Truthfully he feels that his luck has come in….until he meets Pyke! You can tell that Hemsworth had worked on his American accent following this film because honestly, you can still hear the Australian seeping in here and there. I actually love the fact that Sam and Leslie don’t do what Pyke and Rhys expect them to do, so it means it takes longer to get the money back! I think everyone would have expected Hemsworth to have played a strong male character but he is actually the beta male in this film.
